Nonprofit Opportunities

The NORTHH team is committed to serving all nonprofits in Alaska and helping advance the state as a whole towards energy efficiency and reduced carbon emissions. To this end, as we learn about them, we will be adding resources to this Nonprofit Opportunity page.

If any of these look like a good fit for your organization, and you would like to hear a bit more about the programs, please feel free to contact us! If we can’t answer your questions, we’ll try to point you in the right direction!

Energy Star Portfolio Manager ‘training’
If you are interested in learning more about your buildings and saving both energy and costs, take a look at the recent NORTHH zoom session on Energy Star Portfolio Manager! (Zoom passcode for this presentation is i!H5@4&k). Please excuse the rough start to the video. Some tech difficulties made for a slightly wonky start! Feel free to jump right to the end of minute one. The session runs for 26 minutes.

In short, the first step to saving energy at your building is to benchmark — that is, to measure and compare your building’s energy to similar buildings, past consumption, or a reference performance level. ESPM is a tool that allows you to do just this!

Southeast Conference’s Energy Assessment & Audit Program…
provides small businesses a pathway to low-cost energy audits and grant assistance to reduce energy use and associated costs. If your business is looking to become more energy efficient or add low-cost renewable energy generation, SEC can help you explore the opportunities provided by the USDA’s Rural Energy for America Program (REAP). USDA REAP grant funds are available for small businesses, including nonprofits, covering up to 25% of the total project costs for energy efficiency upgrade or renewable energy systems.  Fill out the form here https://airtable.com/appJQ8t8hWLCRrgfM/pagbgnIKosrH3kGws/form or call (907) 450-2456 for more information!
